Finnvera taps capital markets

The Finnish government has accepted a proposal for a Eu3 billion permanent transfer scheme to be funded by a Finnvera capital markets issuance.

Finnvera is preparing for a capital markets issuance to fund its permanent lending programme, after the scheme won approval from the Finnish government in the final days of 2011.
The Eu3 billion facility passed on 29 December will operate in the same way as the temporary crisis response product created in 2009, but crucially funding must now come from Finnvera notes and not government funds.
The export credit agency is presently in talks with investors and ratings agencies as it gears up to issue commercial paper.
