Impending Basel III regulations, while somewhat improved, still treat trade finance unfairly, and the impact of the Eurozone crisis weighs heavily on both the region’s banks, and far beyond with clients in Eastern Europe, Asia and Latin America. Growth in China and India has slowed, and recoveries in western markets look under threat or anaemic at best.
