IADB and China Exim sign co-lending deal

The Inter-American Development Bank and China Exim have signed a co-lending deal to promote trade between China and Latin America.

The Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) and the Export-Import Bank of China (China Exim) have signed an agreement that will provide up to $200 million in trade financing for trade between China and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).
The two-year agreement, which can be extended, allows trade to be financed in hard and local currencies, including the Chinese renminbi. In practice, the partnership will function underneath the already established IADB’s Trade Finance Facilitation Programme (TFFP).
