A gem of a structure for Emerald
Financing the agricultural commodity supply chain has grown in importance in recent years as an essential component in global trade. This particular structured trade transaction, arranged by ANZ for one of Australia’s leading grain companies, Emerald Group, is believed to be the world’s first inventory finance deal of its kind.
The structure developed by ANZ is an A$475 million warehouse finance repurchase facility syndicated among five banks. ANZ was mandated by Emerald as the sole arranger, agent and security trustee. ANZ’s hold is A$200 million. The deal was signed in November 2010.
