In April 2009, Deutsche Bank joined forces with INTTRA, the world’s largest multi-carrier e-Commerce platform for global shipping to provide an electronic invoice presentment and payment (EIPP) solution to the industry. More than 280,000 container orders are initiated on the INTTRA platform each week, representing more than 10% of global ocean container trade.
The ocean freight industry is heavily reliant on complex contracts which make invoicing problematic. Inaccuracy arises from complicated accounts payable processes being carried out manually. Invoice delivery is done mainly by paper and disputes are resolved by email and phone.
