Winner: SMBC Highly commended: BTMU
Winning the Best Trade Bank in Japan award this year is Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), having captured the award from last year’s winner BTMU. However, it needs to be said that this category remains a tightly fought one – particularly between the top three placed institutions.
Although this category is named ‘in Japan’ it does need to be stressed that all three of the banks listed in the top three positions are global players in trade. And this award should be seen not just as these institutions operative servicing trade for the Japanese market, but also...
