The Peru LNG deal establishes several new records – it is the single largest foreign direct investment to date in Peru and is also the first LNG export facility in South America and in the West Coast of the Americas. This is a robust project finance deal that received vigorous backing in the market with an unprecedented number of senior lenders for a project finance transaction in Latin America. Lenders closed a $2.5 billion financing to develop, construct and operate a 4.45 million tons per annum LNG plant located as Pampa Melchorite on the Pacific coast of Peru, a 167 km south of Lima. The financing will fund the construction of the plant as well as marine facilities and a new 408 kilometre 34-inch natural gas pipeline....
