This ECA-backed export financing transaction for Russia's Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) was signed on 28 December 2008. It is the biggest Euler Hermes-covered deal since the Russian crisis in the late 1990s, and for it to succeed at the height of the present economic crunch says volumes about the hard work and resilience of the borrower, the arrangers and the ECA involved.
