In September 2008, BHF-Bank signed the a100 million for the constriction of a float glass production line in Gomel, Belarus. Few deals of this size take place in Belarus and as such they present numerous challenges for the arrangers and the other companies involved. It is perhaps no surprise that this deal was the biggest financing in Belarus in 2008.
The deal had to overcome a number of hurdles, not least that of obtaining ECA cover in difficult times. The amount required exceeding by far Euler Hermes' country ceiling for Belarus and its maximum exposure for a single transaction in the country....
